Farm Animals Fill in the Squares is an educational and fun kid’s activity. Using the list of words, the child fills in the boxes using the hint letters in the puzzle to help them get started. The free printable game is page 1 of the file and the answer key is page 2 of the file so the child can check their answers.
** Hint: You can use this as a free printable game for a farm theme kid's birthday party. To play give each child a game sheet upside down. Say “Start”, then the kids turn of the game sheet over and whom ever finishes first with the most correct answers is the winner.
The reason I make these filling games for kids on my websites is because this type of game makes kids use reasoning skills as well as helps them learn to spell without having to go over a spelling less that you may have created for them to help them learn to spell. On this game I use the barnyard theme with a few easy spelling words. Now I know you can get a gadget and they can speak or type in the spelling words to learn how to spell on gadget and given to blinking lights for spelling it right. The difference in using this type of fill-in game instead of a gadgets to help them learn to spell is, (note: now gadgets are necessarily bad), by having to write the letters into the squares the child can accomplish several things such as how to control the pencil by writing inside a square which also gives them hand eye coordination, they actually have to write the letter which helps them learn the letter they’re writing down as well as the word they’re spelling and it teaches them independence because they are doing this themselves without help from electronic gadgets.
